Barley and Ben For WomenFor Women
Why Switch to ClothThere are a few reasons for switching to cloth menstrual protection, also known as eco sanitary wear, reusable pads and washable menstrual pads. Saving money, caring for the environment, and looking after women's health are just a few. Many women find that using a natural product calms and soothes, making for a lighter period, and one to work with and celebrate, rather than fight against or be embarrassed about. Organic fabrics and breathable pads (pads made with no waterproofing such as fleece backed), also help with any irritations towards the end of a period. If you aren't sure about using cloth pads full time, try getting a few different brands of liners to get the feel of them. Liners aren't very expensive, many women have started out in this way and now would never go back to using paper products. Available in a range of fabrics and designs, from plain organic cotton to wonderfully soft minkee, all our san pro has been tested just like our nappies. Hey, we don't want paper or chemicals in our babies nappies, why should we have to put up with it in our sanitary products? Caring for cloth san pro is really easy, store in a small bucket with cold water, adding a little salt or, my personal fave, tea tree and lemon essential oil, but rinse well before you wash them if you do as it can be irritating on a woman's sensitive bits. If you prefer to store them dry,pop them in a cloth bag. You can soak them before washing in a solution of tea tree, or an oxygen based pre soaker is another great way to get them stain free. Wash them at 40 degrees, although they can all be washed at 60 degrees if you need to, then line dry, tumble dry on low or stick them on your radiator to dry, but not for long! Remember, wash before use and no fabric conditioner, it reduces absorbency! |
